Post-Rehab Training: A Realistic Approach to Regaining Strength, Mobility and Independence
Post-rehabilitation after physical therapy release (both athletes and non-athletes), chronic illness management and injury prevention (for those clients with repetitive injuries) Post Rehab Training Process
1. Basic Training
The first 3-4 sessions are used to create a client’s workout base. All clients are required to go through this process from the high-end athlete to someone with a chronic illness. Our goal is to give our clients everything they need to train safely while learning all they can about exercise.
  • Core Training 101
  • Stretching 101
  • Posture 101
  • Nutrition review and referral
  • Client program
  • Correction of form
2. Prescribed Exercise
Phases 2 and 3 occur simultaneously. During this phase, prescribed exercises from the client’s PT, ATC or MD are incorporated into the exercise protocol. Close communication takes place between the trainer and that particular allied professional to keep up with the client’s rehabbing protocol while adapting it to the new training program.
3. Imbalance Correction
Every client has muscular imbalances that may cause the same repetitive injuries. Our trainer’s job is to understand these imbalances and use corrective exercise techniques to train. Every client is different. Therefore, the selection of exercises is different. This phase is never fully completed because our bodies are always changing. This phase is incorporated, eventually, into Phase 4.
4. Mainstream Training
For most post-rehab clients, this phase is attained once the client successfully completes the above phases. Since this client is post-rehab, all contraindications are noted from the prescribed exercise list. Athletes will use this phase as performance training while non-athletes will use this phase for goal-oriented exercises.
Handicap Accessability
Coors Core Fitness offers handicap access to the studio. All post rehab clients are welcome to bring caretakers with them during their session.
